India’s $30B Solar Import Hurdle in 2030 Energy Goal

India aims to install 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, with solar playing a key role. However, heavy reliance on Chinese imports could push solar equipment imports to $30 billion annually, warns the Global Trade Research Initiative(GTRI). Despite local manufacturing incentives, India must ramp up domestic production or risk high costs threatening its green energy goals.
